But this BMG vinyl reissue gets the weird vibes of Perry back into proper circulation: especially crucial as this is considered one of his finest.

The legendary Lee 'Scratch' Perry may or may not have had his style ripped off by Nintendo when they were designing Ganondorf. What is certain is this 10" features an 'Extended Discoplate Version' of the wonderfully weird 'Makumba Rock'. The b-side meanwhile has 'Heaven & Hell' a track that didn't feature on Rainford.

Rainford

Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry finds a way to productively channel his madness on new album Rainford. The Return Of Pipecock Jackxon

Originally released in 1980, The Return Of Pipecock Jackxon is the last LP to emerge from Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry’s legendary Black Ark Studio. It also concluded the series that began with Super Ape and also spawned records like Police And Thieves. The legendary Black Ark sound is in full effect here, with Perry muddying up his mixes with all kinds of strange atmospheres. Some fine songwriting still manages to shine, mind. Master Piece

Master Piece is the new full-length album from renowned dub-reggae pioneer, Lee "Scratch" Perry, with some songs first introduced in 2010 on a ground-breaking EP in their "unfinished" state. Produced by Born Free and The Next Room, the album features ten tracks employing some of the techniques of the Mad Professor but with a distinctly original, updated sound with elements of lounge-dub and deep trance.  For the uninitiated, Lee "Scratch" Perry is one of the most important figures in the history of reggae music. Not only did he help develop the early reggae sound captured in a number of important recordings, but as an engineer, producer, songwriter, and performer he pioneered a number of innovations, including dub reggae and the "scratch" turntable effect used by DJ's today.
