These Machines

Shoegazers Kontakte come out of the woodwork for 'These Machines', their new eight track mini-record that covers two years of artistic processes. It's the follow-up to their recent 'Fear of Music' EP and finds them on their very own record label for the first time, which they have ambitiously -- and with lots of post-rock hand gestures -- titled...view item »

Kontakte
We Move Through Negative Spaces

This reminds me a little (or possibly a great deal, simultaneously) of Maps, early Mogwai, EITS, 65daysofstatic & Epic 45. Their last effort was a motorik Krauty affair but this is all proper "epic guitar cathedral walls", whispering, fluttery electronics & galloping, stomping, clattering drum machines with stately arpegiated guitar line...view item »

Kontakte
Soundtrack To Lost Road Movies

Kontakte have a CD out on the Drifting Falling label this week. It's been a strong label so far with top releases by Televise, Opressed By The Line, Matt Batram and lots more I'm too lazy to mention. If you're not familiar with the labels sound then I'll tell you. It's for the more shoegazey and etheral types and this new Kontakte CD fits in perfec...view item »

Superbug EP

London based 'bliss-rockers' Kontakte have a newie out this week, a three track ltd (100 copies) CD on Drifting Falling recordings. Now, I'm not familiar with their output so you'll have to excuse any ignorance on my part. I expected something more in the Drifting Falling shoe-gazy vein but this has more in common with the epic post rock shenani...view item »

Kontakte / Thelightshines
Split

Like the Kontakte/Thelightshines split single. It's got a big spiral on the cover (10 points) and a hazy B/W photygwaff that looks like it may have fallen out of a German library 45 years ago (15 points). The Kontakte side is called 'Motorik' and sounds like brooding spacerock/dreampop with a chiming guitar line being eaten by a huge stomping feedb...view item »

Kontakte
Transmitter/ Receiver/ Sterile World

Apparently Way Out Records (who put out that Molloy 7") have had to change their name. They've changed it to Happy Release Records and they have a 7" out by Dirty Hands. My hands are filthy, I probably ought to wash them. 'Get On Yer Bike (Charlie)' is what this one is called. I like it when song titles have words in brackets at the end. ...view item »
