Kings Of Leon
Youth & Young Manhood

Hilariously I gave Kings of Leon's debut a 2/10 review on its release in 2003. Admittedly they were a long way from Sex On Fire but, in hindsight I was probably wrong. Elsewhere, everyone praised the album for its garage rock stylings and Southern boogie influences. The Followill clan then exploded across the globe resulting in them being one of the most popular rock bands on the planet. Me? I'm doing ok thanks.

Kings Of Leon
Waste A Moment / Muchacho

Here they are. A brand new record from Big Band. You can sing 'Sex On Fire' over the intro to this so hopefully that's enough to get people who like that liking this as well. What we have here is rock music made by committee with everything ticked off and in it's place. Big chorus? Yup got one of those. Gravelly vocals? Of Course. Hints of U2? Check. Sure to sell a million units.

Kings Of Leon
Walls

The Kings Of Leon return in order to sell several hundreds of thousands more records: Walls ought to do the job perfectly. These fellas know how to make well polished rock music in their sleep by now (this is their seventh album), and this won’t disappoint the fans they’ve picked up. The cover art is a bit disconcerting though. On Columbia.

Kings Of Leon
Supersoaker

To paraphrase Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish, the Kings of Leon really found their sound early and don’t stray and inch from it, do they? Bless ‘em. I’m not entirely sure what this track has to do with the legendary water gun, but coming up with titles is really difficult, so I get it. From Mechanical Bull. Vinyl 7”.

Kings Of Leon
Only By the Night

From way back when - when the Kings of Leon had beards and in fact, so did everyone else, their most recognisable fourth album Only By The Night has been reissued on double vinyl from Columbia records. What you’ve come to expect from the band - driving rhythms, cool bass lines and that distinctive gravel voiced sound.

Kings Of Leon
Aha Shake Heartbreak

I once compared Kings of Leon to Blueshammer from the film Ghost World yet they have since become one of the world's biggest bands so who is laughing now eh? This is their second album from 2004 and preceded their incredible, unprecedented fame. The album scored a healthy 7.4 on Metacritic which surely is enough to get you rushing out to buy this re-issue.
