Kath Bloom & Loren Connors
Moonlight

Moonlight is the second Kath Bloom & Loren Connors re-issue this week and was their final album released in 1984 before the dissolution of their partnership as both took time away from music for the best part of a decade. It sees the duo playing in a more intuitive, freeform style than earlier records with Kath's delicate songs backed up by Loren's supportive playing. This re-issue of the original short run pressing includes digital bonus tracks of rare of the era live recordings and is available in two vinyl colours (while stocks last).

Sand In My Shoe

Ooh Sand in My Shoe(s) by Dido. Haunting eh? Legendary folk duo Kath Bloom & Loren Connors provided their own end of the holiday lament with this 1983 album which was only pressed in a short run of 200 or so copies at the time. In the intervening years the legend surrounding these explorers grew and so it is time for a luxury re-issue with digital bonus tracks and a live EP. For the uninitiated this is beautiful fragile folk mixing originals with traditional material which gained long term fandom from the likes of Bill Callahan and Mark Kozelek.

Restless Faithful Desperate

Alternative folk duo Kath Bloom and Loren (MazzaCane) Conners had quite a prolific stint in the 80s. Now the kind folk at Chapter Music are reissuing their classic album Restless Faithful Desperate, filled with gentle acoustic folk. The duo's heartfelt songs have influenced a fair share of artists, including Sonic Youth, Bill Callahan, and Mark Kozelek, and not without reason.

This Dream Of Life

The usual shuffle, cough and an 'oooh'. The sound of Phil finding something he terms as exciting on the new release lists....and yes Kath Blooms 19th album could be a cause of celebration. She's spent the last five winters making it and has roped in guests such as Avi Buffalo and label boss and verbal diarist Mark Kozelek.

Pass Through Here

Available on 12” Vinyl LP and CD from Chapter music, Pass Through Here is the first album from Connecticut based folk musician Kath Bloom in 5 years. This release marks venturing into some new sonic territory, whilst keeping the rawness of her much more stripped down recordings from the '80s. Moving to Carolina to record with Jeff Hassay and Levi Strom, washes of synthesizer underline Bloom’s heart breaking vocals.
