Kalbata ft. Tigris
Vanrock

Vanrock is a collaboration between Fortuna head honcho Kalbata with the five piece Afrodelic band Tigris. The result is six percussion-led tracks which distil the latter's Caribbean and African influences with the more techno and balearic sounds of the former. A fascinating meeting of minds and blending of genres which puts disparate influences together for something rather transcendental. Rock it in a van or any other vessel of your choosing.

Kalbata
Enkuan

This deliriously groovy fusion of worlds pits Mulugeta Teshome's traditional Ethiopian flute playing against contemporary dance beats. It's a record with a global scope, with Kalbata coming from Tel Aviv. The three versions each stand up on their own, offering a different shade of the central concept.

Kalbata
Al Shark

ATTENTION grabbing to say the least. If Omar Souleyman and Muslimgauze got together with a happy Phantom of the Opera to make some cheeky house. Gritty and distorted bass loops, with frantic organ soloing and electro toms that turn to sharp percussion on the flipside. Initially funny, but after 20 seconds it’s unabashedly fun you love it.

Kalbata & Mixmonster
Congo Beat the Drum

Total relaxation from Kalbata & Mixmonster. Congo Beat the Drum is the full length collaboration from these two dub heads. Made using all analogue equipment and mind set, this record is stone cold groove instigator, in the vein of Tubby, Scientist and Studio One. The combination of a clear vision from these two producers and a multitude of legendary guest vocalists make for some outrageous dancehall n' dub rhythms. Out on vinyl LP and CD from Freestyle.
