The Beatles
Abbey Road – 50th Anniversary Edition

Absolutely everything about The Beatles’ final album Abbey Road screams ‘iconic’ - the much-parodied artwork, the second half’s famous song suite, the top class contributions from all of the Fab Four (yes, even Ringo’s ‘Octopus’s Garden’...). In 2019, it gets the 50th anniversary re-mastering treatment. With the new stereo mix handled by Giles Martin at the famous itself, this re-issue comes in: standard CD; double CD; single, double or triple vinyl; or a lavish 4xCD box-set with hardcover book and Blu-Ray. Various versions include outtakes and demos.

John Lennon / Yoko Ono
Wedding Album

Wedding Album by John Lennon & Yoko Ono was released in 1969 and was universally panned upon its release. You do have to remember that The Beatles were still a going concern at the time and were famed for writing some of the greatest pop music known to man. This, as well as being the couple’s third album of experimental music was also the third shock that critics suffered from the Lennon canon and was probably too much for them to take. It’s probably a good time to re-evaluate such experimentation 50 years down the line, we’re more used to this kind of thing now. Limited edition white vinyl LP and CD on Secretly Canadian.

The Beatles
Yellow Submarine

Limited edition picture disc reissue of this classic 1966 tune from the legendary popular beat combo. The disc features images of the Yellow Submarine and  George, Paul, Ringo and John in cartoon form - from the iconic psychedelic animation of the same name. 'Eleanor Rigby' is included on the flipside. We're only able to score a handful of copies so don't sleep!

The Beatles
The Beatles (White Album)

The Beatles. Now there's a thing.  The White Album (initially known as just the Beatles) was the blueprint of what became known as 'the classic over indulgent double album that would have made a great single LP'. It was released 50 years ago today and still much of it sounds like Guided By Voices 'August By Cake'. This super duper re-issue isn't just a rehash of the original thing with posh packaging  - it contains the Esher demos  - a 27 track 'unplugged' demo that has only been heard by the most in the know the Beatles fans.

John Lennon
Imagine

The product designers at Universal skipped lunch finishing this one. At the lowest level, this reissue of fairly successful Beatle and fur coat collector John Lennon’s career highlight is a new stereo mix. Clamber up the ladder of deluxe formats and you’ll be met by a daunting barrage of remixes, b-sides, outtakes, hitherto-unheard demos, Blu-Rays with the album in surround-sound versions, documentaries, the Imagine and Gimme Some Truth films remastered… and a poster. AND two postcards that you will never, ever send.

John Lennon / Yoko Ono
Unfinished Music No. 2: Life With The Lions

As the second part of John and Yoko’s Unfinished Music series, Life With The Lions is one of the least popular albums John Lennon was ever involved with. Partner Yoko Ono took a Fluxus-style approach, and the album consists of howling, feedback, readings of press clippings etc. Better than the any Beatles record (fight it out in the customer review box if you like!) and reissued by Secretly Canadian.

John Lennon / Yoko Ono
Unfinished Music No. 1: Two Virgins

Two Virgins is generally known as one of the least popular albums John Lennon was ever involved with: yay! Yoko Ono’s avant-art practices are clearly the heaviest influence here on this abstract suite of musique concrete, bird-song, conversation and other less-than-traditionally-musical sounds. Excellent to see it reissued by Secretly Canadian!
