Joan Of Arc
1984

Yellow vinyl? Hello sailor. This limited-edition release from Chicago's Joan of Arc, out of Joyful Noise, is a sidestep from the indie band's usual output, complete with almost-a capella performances from vocalist Melina Ausikaitis. Backed up with sparse instrumentation, Ausikaitis' Midwest twang swings from soft and gentle to a fearsome roar. A great listen.

Joan Of Arc
He's Got The Whole This Land Is Your Land In His Hands

Joan Of Arc are veterans of the game by now, having been crafting post-rock in Chicago since 1995, when post-rock still meant ‘inventive and interesting’. He’s Got The Whole This Land Is Your Land In His Hands, their first album in five years, is as brimming with melodic detail as any of their work. Out on the Joyful Noise label on CD and black and pink vinyl editions.

Joan Of Arc
Testimonium Songs

Restless edit-avoider Tim Kinsella turns his Joan of Arc project towards performance-art accompaniment on this album for Polyvinyl. The songs go alongside experimental theatre piece Testimonium and are a response to Charles Reznikoff’s work of the same name. Concepts aside, this is typical Joan of Arc - compelling and frustrating in equal measures. Both formats come with a download code.
