JK Flesh
In Your Pit EP

New one on The Bug's label Pressure. Not sure what else I have to say really. It's bloody heavy techno. Incomparably. Uncompromisingly. Just so very heavy. And that is no surprise, after all this is Godflesh's Justin Broadrick we're talking about. Whether there or as part of Napalm Death or Techno Animal, or hell, as JK Flesh. In Your Pit Ep is as it sounds. An unrelenting exploration of space and weight that'll destroy any dance floor.

Godflesh
Streetcleaner: Live At Roadburn 2011

Streetcleaner is the second (some say definitive) album of Justin K. Broadrick’s legendary Godflesh, and Roadburn is the Dutch festival renowned by fans of heavy music the world over. On this record, the two meet one another, with Godflesh playing a beefed-up version of the album in front of a rapturous live audience at the festival in 2011. Definitely a new flavour added to Streetcleaner here. Released by Roadburn Records.

JK Flesh
Wasplike EP

Justin Broadrick is known for his work with Napalm Death, Godflesh, Pale Sketcher, Jesu, and his collaboration with The Bug AKA Kevin Martin in Techno Animal. As JK Flesh he takes industrial, dub and power electronics to create ear-bleeding techno and heavy electronica. Wasplike EP is his latest EP, 12” coloured vinyl on Inner Surface Music.

Godflesh
Post Self

Godflesh are known as an industrial metal band, but their 8th album, Post-Self, sees them move away from metal and experiment with industrial and post-punk sounds, exploring what inspired them in the first place. Lyrically the album deals with anxiety and depression, fear, mortality and paternal and maternal relationships.

JK Flesh
Suicide Estate

Justin K Broadrick is obviously no stranger to darkness and violence. On this full length foray into distorted, swampy techno, direct references to his environment and the threat of a self-imposed antibiotic apocalypse inform a bitter, unpleasant album, growling and scraping its way along a grey street.

Sun Kil Moon / Jesu
30 Seconds To The Decline Of Planet Earth

Oh no. Not again. Sun Kil Moon (aka Mark Kozelek) and Jesu (aka Justin K Broadrick) have been fans of one another for years and this is the second LP they've come up with together in recent times. The first one had it's moments so if they can reign in Kozelek's verbal diarrhoea this could be worth a listen.

Council Estate Electronics
Arktika

Diarmuid Dalton and heavy music all-rounder Justin K Broadrick join together to pay tribute to the place they both grew up and the synth music they listened to while doing so. Council Estate Electronics is a bit less noisy than, say, Godflesh, instead sending out spiralling signals of komische and dub. Project debut Arktika is released by Glacial Movements.

Jesu / Sun Kil Moon
Jesu / Sun Kil Moon

This joint album from Sun Kil Moon and Jesu is the strangest and most natural of collaborations. The groups have different methods (Justin K Broadrick with abrasive post-metal and Mark Kozelek with acoustic ballads and dark wit) but on America's Most Wanted these combine alongside bleak textures and melancholy guitars. This CD album on Rough Trade and Caldo Verde Records also has an all-star cast of indie icons, from Bonnie "Prince" Billy, to Rachel Goswell of Slowdive.

Godflesh
Streetcleaner

Industrial metal Brummies, Godflesh, released their debut album, Streetcleaner, in 1989. They formed in the early ‘80s when former Napalm Death guitarist, Justin Broadrick and bass player, Christian Green started working together. It wasn’t until 1988, however, that they became Godflesh. Unlike many traditional metal bands, the duo make use of a drum machine which underpins their industrial sound. If you like this kind of stuff (and why wouldn't you?) it's pretty essential, really. Reissue LP on Earache.
