Isis Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
ISIS, the seminal post-metal band who managed to smartly break up before ‘the other Isis’ came along, here re-present their very first EP, from 1998! Mosquito Control shows that the fantastic focus and inventiveness of ISIS was present right from the off, and is a must for any fans of the band. Vinyl reissue with new Aaron Turner artwork, from Hydra Head.
Thalassa is, in fact, William Fowler Collins paired with Aaron Turner of Isis and Sumac, working in a dark drone mode. Bonds Of Prosperity feels like it alludes to a wealth of the heavier genres (black metal, sludge metal etc.) without ever actually crunching into a song: it feels like the long eerie calm before a storm. Double LP on SIGE.
After more than making their mark on the post-metal scene with albums such as Celestial, Oceanic and Panopticon ISIS abruptly announced their break-up in 2010, stating that they had done what they set out to achieve. Live VII is a second release ofter the fact, documenting a live performance in Australia months before the end. For fans of Neurosis, Cult of Luna and Swans.

One of post-metals famed cornerstones, 'Oceanic' is arguably Isis' crowning jewel, a record that channeled the emotive bleat of post-hardcore, beautified heavy metal and influenced a league of heavier third gen post-rock bands, from This Will Destroy You to Russian Circles. It probably deserves this remix set, with each of these tracks commissioned back in 2005, involving electronic minimalists and maximalists alike, such as Fennesz, Thomas Koner, Venetian Snares, Tim Hecker and a lot more. Big names for a big reinterpretation of a big record.
