Inspiral Carpets
Inspiral Carpets

Integral to Manchester’s ‘madchester’ scene of the early 1990s, Inspiral Carpets- despite reforming in 2003 and touring ever since- had not recorded anything since 1994, and as a result ventured deeper into obscurity. After signing to Cherry Red earlier this year, however, the release of their new full-length self-titled LP was announced, so fans will finally get to hear their first new material in 20 years. Recorded over a year and mixed by Jim Spencer (The Charlatans), 'Inspiral Carpets' is in keeping with the spirit of Manchester, and boasts a guest appearance from legendary punk poet John Cooper Clark.

Inspiral Carpets
Spitfire

Well wouldn't you know it, The Inspiral Carpets are back. Now with original singer Stephen Holt in tow replacing the departed Tom Hingley, “Spitfire” is the first single to be released from their new LP which like many records by returning bands is eponymously titled. Can it be any good? Well we've not heard soundclips yet so the jury is out! Still, I reckon there's still a huge fanbase which will ensure this sells out pretty quickly.

Dung 4 + The Cow EP

Dung 4 by Inspiral Carpets was originally released as a cassette on their own Cow label. It contained an album’s worth of material in demo form recorded at the end of 1987. Some songs ended up being re-recorded and are well known, whilst others hide in relative obscurity. The cassette sold 8,000 copies initially and was never released on an other format, until now. This CD also includes the Cow EP which was recorded 6 months prior to Dung 4.
