Ian Brown
First World Problems

The wonky alt-rock wizard of Warrington and Stone Roses alumnus Ian Brown concludes a decade off and leads comeback album Ripples with new earworm ‘First World Problems’. Brown’s disdain for those who dwell on those titular problems is palpable. He even becomes irate enough to rhyme ‘crazy’ with ‘lazy’.

Ian Brown
Ripples

With the big paydays from those Stone Roses reunion gigs apparently wrapped up for now, Ian Brown has got back into solo music-making: Ripples is his first solo material to land in nine years. The wider Brown family are all over this record, with Ian’s sons contributing to both songwriting and musical performances. That’s pretty sweet really. Ripples is out from Virgin EMI.

Ian Brown
The Greatest

The Best of Ian Brown. Actually not as bad as you might think as Brown has come up with the odd classic during his solo years in particular Corpses In Their Mouths and F.E.A.R. His solo work is a lot more eclectic than that of his main band the Stone Roses with reggae, dub and electronica influences infusing his baggy laid back pop.

Ian Brown
Golden Greats

With his 1999 second solo album, Ian Brown took the bold risk of having an original work mistaken for a compilation (it isn’t) by titling the thing Golden Greats. Maybe he was angling for someone to a ‘Golden Brown’ pun…? This double vinyl reissue features 2 bonus tracks and an etching on the D-side.

Ian Brown
Solarized

It always comes as a surprise that Ian Brown's solo career hasn't been the complete disaster some may have predicted after that Reading festival performance. In fact his solo LPs have done quite well. 'Solarized' was his second effort and until this day has never been available on vinyl. Thankfully this has all been sorted out and you can get your hands on a vinyl edition this Record Store Day.

Ian Brown
Unfinished Monkey Business

Everyone thinks he looks like a monkey anyway so Ian Brown ran with the theme for his first solo album. After the disaster that was the Stone Roses last few years, Unfinished Monkey Business was way better than it had any right to be and includes Brown's possible solo high water mark 'Corpses In Their Mouths' amongst other lo-fi and funky songs.
