Patrice Rushen

Patrice Rushen was perhaps better known as an arranger and pianist who worked behind the scenes with other artists at the time of her 1980 album Posh but she had released a series of low key records under her own name throughout the 1970s. She was working with a small group of musicians who she trusted and it is through loose jamming that the ideas for Posh would come about. She went on to be better known for her subsequent hit Forget-Me-Nots. A classic if ever there was one and a record that Posh paved the way for.

Remind Me - The Classic Elektra Recordings 1976-1984

Superb compilation from Strut here that focuses on disco pioneer Patrice Rushden. Remind Me - The Classic Elektra Recordings 1976-1984 fronts the singles, 12” edits and fan favourites that Rushden cut for Elektra back in the day. Remastered from the original tapes, much of this is bespoke, classy disco straight from the source. Some cracking ballads are scattered across the album too. Remind Me is also a great one to play ‘spot the sample’ with. Contains 'Forget Me Nots'.
