Hot Chip
A Bath Full of Ecstasy

How nice of them. Hot Chip got lots of pleasure from making this latest album of theirs and they want to pass that joy onto the listener. Some may say that it would have been even nicer of them to keep it to themselves. That said if they bring some joy into some peoples world who are we to argue. Expect joyful dance pop led by a tiny voice.

Alexis Taylor
Rubbed Out

Bespectacled Hot Chip crooner Alexis Taylor was just a wee nipper when his debut solo LP came out on Treader Records back in 2008. A decade on and Rubbed Out finally gets a vinyl release. This is a tender and charming collection of home-taped ditties, all of which are dedicated to his partner. There’s a lot of Love Is Overtaking Me/Calling Out Of Context Arthur Russell in here.

Alexis Taylor
Listen With(out) Piano

Alexis Taylor is the esteemed face of indietronica kings, Hot Chip. In 2016 he dropped his solo offering, Piano, and he now returns with a companion to his nuanced debut - Listen With(out) Piano. Described as "a series of multiple clothes to be put onto a deliberately bare record" by Taylor, this compilation of remixes is a delight for any electronic aficionado.

Joe Goddard
So Much / Human Touch

After a decade and a half with Hot Chip, time as half of 2 Bears, owning the record label Greco Roman and two solo albums, Joe Goddard has decided to focus his energy on the club scene with the first of two 12” singles. So Much brings some deep house to the floor whilst the flip, Human Touch ploughs the dark electro furrow. 12” on Domino.

Alexis Taylor
Beautiful Thing

New solo business from voice-of-Hot Chip Mr Alexis Taylor! While his solo work in the past has often tended towards quiet intimacy (such as the self-explanatory Piano), fourth solo record Beautiful Thing, which was produced with UNKLE man Tim Goldsworthy, has plenty of big dancefloor pop heft to it, as well as the ever-intriguing Alexis touch. On Domino.

Alexis Taylor
Piano

Alexis Taylor steps away from the pop star spotlight of Hot Chip (or indeed the improv lamplight of About Group) for a subtle solo album in a shaded corner. Piano was recorded by Alexis alone, with just his voice and a grand piano, both untreated by effects. New songs and reimagined old ones alike. What a lovely, simple record. On Moshi Moshi.

Joe Goddard
Electric Lines

Joe Goddard of Hot Chip/The 2 Bears has kept busy enough with his other projects and has now readied his sophomore full length, after an 8 year wait but with trickles of singles. Electric Lines offers fantastic leftfield pop with a dancefloor at it’s focus. Disco grooves and laser-reaching togetherness.

Joe Goddard
Lasers

Joe Goddard, the bouncy one from Hot Chip and one half of The 2 Bears, also sneaks out solo productions from time to time (remember the addictive power of ‘Gabriel?’). Lasers is just such a thing, a catchy club killer designed for the dance. White label 12” released in a single strictly limited edition on the Greco-Roman label.

Hot Chip
Huarache Lights Remixes

A fresh and funky slab of delicious remix wax from the formidable Hot Chip camp. This 12” features reworks of the Why Make Sense? lead single Huarache Lights. Always good for a remix, Soulwax deliver the A-side with a/jus/ted finishing the job nicely. Out on limited white label 12" vinyl from Domino.

Hot Chip
Why Make Sense?

There is very little known about the music on Why Make Sense? the new album from indie/electronica act Hot Chip but what is known is that every sleeve for every copy on CD or vinyl will be subtly different due to a never-before-used printing technique. Hot Chip fans will be delighted! The album was produced by the band and Mark Ralph in London and Oxfordshire.

Hot Chip
Need You Now (Percussions Edit)

The new Hot Chip single, Need You Now, is presented to us in the form of straightforward white label, with two hot remixes. The first is from an alias of Kieran Hebden’s, Percussions, whereas on the flip side the Chip’s own Joe Goddard reshuffles previous single Huarache Lights. Very limited, on Domino.

Hot Chip
In Our Heads

Absurdly well-to-do quartet Hot Chip have been doing their floor-filling electronic disco pop thing for quite a long time now and despite the naysayers (hello!) have done pretty damn well with it. In Our Heads was their 2012 (it seems like only yesterday) album and is one of their best..confidently showcasing their inventive, infectious songwriting. Popular in both London and elsewhere if you haven't got on board their groove ridden Modeo hatch by now then here is a good place to start.
