E B U Vinyl, CD & tapes by E B U at Norman Records

Show page list »

You know, before I read the press release for Hinge by E B U I was going to reach for the word "swamp". But there it is, in the press release. No original thought for me. E B U's music is the sound of pop music trying to wade through filth. It's slow and sludgy and the vocals are unsettling, but under all that is lovely old pop.

Falling / Light Show / O$VMV$M Remix / Broshuda Remix

The enigmatic E B U limbers up for her debut LP with a small collection on No Corner (Jabu, Spiritflesh). Both ‘Falling’ and ‘Light Show’ - the two E B U originals here - are strange lo-fi dubs that draw from Laurie Anderson, Kid A-era Radiohead, Micachu & The Shapes and the Young Echo sound of E B U’s native Bristol. Indeed, it’s no surprise to find Young Echo affiliates O$VMV$M crop up on remix duties. Broshuda gets in on the act too.
