The mega Grails return! Whilst this project may have seemed quiet for the last 5 years, the members have been busy writing Chalice Hymnal whilst working with their other projects OM, Watter and Lilacs & Champagne. Chalice Hymnal manages to throw them all together like a worldly-psych-drone hotpot filled with spacey near distance guitars, washy brass ensembles and crisp heavy drums.

Holy Sons is the recording moniker of Emil Amos. In The Garden is his 13th album released under the name and it’s full of dreamy, melodic alt. guitar tunes. It was produced by John Agnello who deserves legendary status for his work with Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth, Phosphorescent and Kurt Vile. Amos has been a member of Om, Lilacs and Champagne and Grails and been central to the creation of some trailblazing experimental music over the last decade.
Holy Sons is the solo project of Emil Aros, whose work you’ll know from the heavy drum parts on Om and Grails albums. On Decline of The West Vol. I & II, he plays every single instrument, ending up with an impressive and highly varied set of of songs. This reissue features 7 extra songs from the same sessions. Gatefold double LP on Partisan.
Holy Sons is the monikor under which Emil Amos picks up his guitar and his four track, and pours his heart out, as i’m sure he does in his other, very different projects - OM, Grails, and Lilacs & Champagne. Apparently he’s written and recorded over 100 songs, but very few have surfaced, in keeping with subtle and withdrawn sound of this project. Vinyl or CD on Thrill Jockey.

Holy Sons is the recording project of Emil Amos, who has written and released enough songs for about a hundred artists. Usually the drummer for stoner metal band Om, his solo work sees him working on bizarre, grainy folk songs. 'The Fact Facer' is his first record for Thrill Jockey (a strangely official turn for an artist so constant and self-reliant), and continues to show off his idiosyncratic, thought-provoking songwriting.
Holy Sons is Emil Amos, drummer for doom metal outfit Om and maker of bizarre, ill-defined folk music. Almost patriotically lo-fi, he's recorded thousands of songs and released them with a staunchly DIY ethos, echoing the practice of Mount Eerie's Phil Elverum but with even more dedication. 'Lost Decade II' is the second volume in his series that collects songs he's made on a 4-track while trawling through different basements and places in his home-state of North Carolina.
