Strawberry Cheesecake / Modern Noise

Third Man aficionados among you will have spotted the label’s recent Algebra Mothers compilation A-Moms = Algebra Mothers. That LP was an odds-and-sods collection focussed on long-defunct Detroit punks A-Moms. The band only released one single when together, the 1979 split ‘Strawberry Cheesecake’/‘Modern Noise’, so Third Man have decided to complete the circle and reissue that one as well. This is chaotic, maniacal new wave from a group who count Pere Ubu among their fans.

A-Moms = Algebra Mothers

Ye olde Midwest punks may have witnessed the Algebra Mothers/A-Moms first-hand. A bunch of school friends from Detroit, the band released a single and played live around the area in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s. Now, more than forty years after forming, the group are releasing their first LP. A-Moms = Algebra Mothers is a collection of home-taped demos and live takes that puts a fun spin on the Detroit rock sound of The Stooges, MC5 et al.
