Joni Mitchell
Live at Canterbury House – 1967

If you ever hear David Crosby tell a story about Joni Mitchell, he’ll always recall the time he took her to a party where she completely silenced the room with a few of her songs. Live at Canterbury House 1967 is a 3 LP, recorded before the release of her debut album in 1968, that will give you the chance to experience that feeling.

Joni Mitchell
Early Joni – 1963

Early Joni - 1963 is an album of Joni Mitchell’s earliest known recordings from a session at a radio station in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, her hometown. Joni Mitchell was just 19 at the time, so it serves as a valuable document of a nascent talent who became one of the world’s greatest songwriters. Features a new self-portrait and liner notes by radio station DJ Barry Bowman.

Joni Mitchell
Court and Spark

Originally released in 1974, Court and Spark by Joni Mitchell showed the singer/songwriter expanding her artistic palette yet again with jazz influences finding their way into her already augmented folk sound. It features a whole bunch of guest performers including Crosby & NAsh, Jose Feliciano and Cheech & Chong. Contains the tracks Help Me and Free Man In Paris. LP on Reprise.

Joni Mitchell
Shine

Shine is Joni Mitchell’s 19th and, to date, last album. It was originally released in 2007. We’re lucky to have had this album out of her as she had announced her retirement from the music business in 2002. It features an updated version of her 1970 hit Big Yellow Taxi and fellow singer / songwriter James Taylor guests, playing guitar on the title track. The opening track 'One Week Last Summer' won a Grammy, too.

Joni Mitchell
Ladies Of The Canyon

Ladies Of The Canyon was the third album by Joni Mitchell, originally released in 1970. The album is more artistically expansive than her previous albums, giving a glimpse of what she’d later become on albums such as Blue and  The Hissing Of Summer Lawns. It is notable for containing two of her most popular songs: Big Yellow Taxi and Woodstock. LP on Reprise.

Joni Mitchell
The Hissing Of Summer Lawns

Mitchell’s seventh album got some sniffy reviews back in 1975, but is now recognised as a subtle and complex jazz-inflected masterpiece. The title track is as smooth and groovy as peak Steely Dan, while Crosby, Stills and Nash guest on the buoyant In France They Kiss On Main Street. However the biggest surprise is The Jungle Line, a viciously funny indictment of the art world set to a distorted loop of Burundi drumming and Moog synth that feels a decade ahead of its time. If you associate Mitchell with hippy festivals and large hireable vehicles, this will be a real eye- and ear-opener.
