Question: if you were running a magazine that focussed on electronic music, who’s the one artist above all others that you’d want to interview? It’s Kraftwerk, right? Or at least Kraftwerk’s leader Ralf Hütter? Electronic Sound have done just that for their 56th issue, locking down a rare chit-chat with the notoriously press-shy Hütter. After such a coup the staff could be forgiven for resting on their laurels, but there’s actually so much more gold across these pages. Paranoid London, Jah Wobble & Bill Laswell and Blanck Mass are among the other interviewees, and the magazine also contains columns, reviews and an extensive feature on famed synthesiser company EMS. The accompanying CD, focussed on music made by EMS users, includes tracks by (among others) Jack Dangers (Meat Beat Manifesto) and Peter Zinovieff.
