La Force

As a description writer for Norman Records™ you end up reading a lot of press releases. The quality of these varies wildly. La Force’s La Force has one of the best ones this particular freelance lackey has read in all his years of being chained to a desk deep in the catacombs of Norman Towers. The reason that it's good is because it doesn’t mess about - no overly floral language, no weird metaphors, no comparisons that don’t make any sense. It’s five sentences long and goes like this: Sentence 1 - who the album is by (Broken Social Scene/AroarA’s Ariel Engle). Sentence 2 - what the album sounds like (electronics-heavy art-pop with nice singing). Sentence 3 - artists the album is similar to (PJ Harvey and Sinead O’Connor, among others). Sentence 4 - who produced it (Engle and Warren Spicer). Sentence 5 - who plays on the album (members of Broken Social Scene, SUUNS, Esmerine and more). See? It's really clear and makes it very easy to get a gist of the record. One spin of La Force then makes good on the promises of the accompanying spiel. Good work Engle, better work whoever banged out the press release. Copywriters of the world, unite!
