The Beths
Jump Rope Gazers

Another round of scintillating power-pop from New Zealand’s The Beths, as they return with their second studio album Jump Rope Gazers. Written during the intense tours behind 2018’s acclaimed breakout Future Me Hates Me, Elizabeth Stokes and co. aim for very much the same mood, setting lyrics about worry and introversion to gregarious, bright rock.

The Beths
Future Me Hates Me

Carpark Records (Cloud Nothings, Toro Y Moi) present some fuzzy niceness from Kiwi quartet The Beths. Future Me Hates Me is a peppy synthesis of OG twee-grungers like The Lemonheads with the shy coyness found in the more recent fare of Yuck and Mitski. Nice harmonies, nice melodies, and the fact that the four members all have jazz chops ensures a higher level of musicianship that one usually finds on these sort of LPs.
