Smokescreens
A Strange Dream

Smokescreens are an LA band with some serious Antipodean influences. First up, this second LP is produced by David Kilgour (The Clean etc.), but 'A Strange Dream' is also pretty heavy on the "down under sound" - these tracks take in The Go-Betweens and Flying Nun as well as UK DIY punk. An album of perfectly formed jangle 'n' ache to follow up the much-liked 2018 debut 'Used to Yesterday'.

Smokescreens
Used To Yesterday

Slumberland (Joanna Gruesome, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart) with a very Slumberland-y LP here. LA transplants Smokescreens apparently formed over a shared love of New Zealand’s famous Flying Nun imprint, and one whiff of Used To Yesterday will have you in no doubt that they’re telling the truth on that count. The songs here are the sort of pleasant indie jangles that Yuck do so well.
