East Man
Prole Art Threat

Now, where have we heard that title from? Well, it's a well-intended tribute to Mark E Smith and the Fall as East Man have the same kind of working class creativity using MCs from across London working over some tight dancehall, grime and drum 'n' bass sounds. The project is produced by Anthoney Hart (aka (Basic Rhythm, Imaginary Forces) and it is his second work for Planet Mu following on from his 2018 debut 'Red, White & Zero'.

Basic Rhythm
2 Da Core

Lying on the faultlines between footwork and hardcore, Basic Rhythm presents a new 12” single ‘2 Da Core’ off the back of his success with the On The Threshold EP. It features a remix of the title track from footwork pioneer RP Boo, plus two bonus compositions ‘Get Up’ and ‘Nuh Ramp’.

East Man & Walton
Horse Mouth / Gunshot

East Man (Anthoney Hart) kicked off Hi Tek Sounds back in 2018 with his own Stop Flapping Your Gums EP. The label’s second drops sees Hart back in East Man mode and mixing it with Eski-techno specialist Walton. Their collaboration yields expected results - both ‘Horse Mouth’ and ‘Gunshot’ are po-faced soundsystem bangers full of snatched hypeman vocals, ‘Pulse X’ bass beats and rumbling sub.

East Man
Red, White & Zero

Anthoney Hart - he of Basic Rhythm and Imaginary Forces fame - drops the first release of his East Man project on Planet Mu. Red, White & Zero is a whip-smart take on grime also incorporates elements of jungle, techno and hardcore, with an overall effect not dissimilar to the ‘ruff sound’ pioneered by Novelist and Mumdance. Features include Darkos Strife, Killa P and Kwam, while academic Paul Gilroy provides liner notes.
