East Man & Walton
Horse Mouth / Gunshot

East Man (Anthoney Hart) kicked off Hi Tek Sounds back in 2018 with his own Stop Flapping Your Gums EP. The label’s second drops sees Hart back in East Man mode and mixing it with Eski-techno specialist Walton. Their collaboration yields expected results - both ‘Horse Mouth’ and ‘Gunshot’ are po-faced soundsystem bangers full of snatched hypeman vocals, ‘Pulse X’ bass beats and rumbling sub.

Basic Rhythm
New Style EP

Despite spending the past couple of years focussing on getting his East Man project off the ground, Anthoney J Hart has still found time to put together some fresh Basic Rhythm material. This New Style EP is classic Sneaker Social Club fare, all retro-rave thrills and pirate radio fetishism. If you’re digging that Special Request aesthetic then this one’s definitely for you.

Basic Rhythm
On The Threshold

Anthoney Hart (East Man, Imaginary Forces) returns to the prestigious Planet Mu label under his Basic Rhythm alias after a short absence, with On The Threshold. A collection that promises to be a treat for DJs, it sprawls from drum’n’bass to jungle and hardcore on a thread of thoughtfulness and experimentalism.

Basic Rhythm
Dough Boy / Can't You See

Up for some gritty grime haunted by the ghosts of pirate radio? Because London’s Basic Rhythm (a.k.a., East Man) has it in spades, as usual. Here it’s a pair of tunes for Arcola, housed in a swishly foiled, die-cut outer sleeve. ‘Dough Boy’ is massive stuff. You’ll hear the word “dough” many times. Flip ‘Can’t You See’ is just as muscular, but warmer and more generous with the pads. Fab stuff.

East Man
Red, White & Zero

Anthoney Hart - he of Basic Rhythm and Imaginary Forces fame - drops the first release of his East Man project on Planet Mu. Red, White & Zero is a whip-smart take on grime also incorporates elements of jungle, techno and hardcore, with an overall effect not dissimilar to the ‘ruff sound’ pioneered by Novelist and Mumdance. Features include Darkos Strife, Killa P and Kwam, while academic Paul Gilroy provides liner notes.
