Cucina Povera & ELS
The Oystercatcher

Cucina Povera - Finnish-born sound artist and vocalist Maria Rossi and ELS - the name under which Edward Simpson of Circuit Breaker makes introspective electronica have joined forces to create The Oystercatcher. It is an album of boiled down improvisations, culled from a two day recording session in London, inspired by a Tove Jansson short Story.

Cucina Povera
Tyyni

Cucina Povera is the name given to a particularly frugal form of cooking in rural Italy. It is also the name used by Finnish-born artist and musician Maria Rossi for her music making. Her third album, Tyyni, explores the meeting of nature and the mechanical world through noise, hymn-like vocals and further vocal experiments.

Cucina Povera
Zoom

Cucina Povera (who shares her moniker with the 309th best restaurant in Thessaloniki), real name Maria Rossi, is a sound artist and vocalist. Zoom is her very raw document of places and spaces she has found herself in. Using just a Tascam Zoom recorder and a loop pedal, she creates sonic maps which provide an overwhelming sense of being there with her.

Cucina Povera
Hilja

Back at it with the sound art, constantly pushing the boundaries of music creation. Cucina Povera (originally from Finland, hence talks/sings in Finnish occasionally), is a Glasgow-based sound artist and Hilja is her latest release. If you're familiar with ASMR, you'll get that tingly hit straight to the back of your neck as soon as she opens her mouth. Available on vinyl LP and released on Night School. First press is limited to 300 copies, and contain hand-screened sleeves.
