Mahatma X
A Mobtown Suite Vol. II

This MALK kid, eh? Fresh from winning our Album Of The Year with 'Death From A Love', here he returns with his future-legendary hip-hop trio Mahatma X and a welcome follow-up to the acclaimed A Mobtown Suite Vol 1. Volume 2 carries on from where Volume 1 left off, but puts it in technicolour adding an incredible array of loops and beats creating a sound collage of dusty beats, Avalanches-like magpie enthusiasm and haunting nods to the golden age of hip-hop.

MALK
WMAIDIT

We all know that MALK is the guy who, in the future, you'll wish you'd got on board with. We gave his 2018 LP Death From A Love our Album of the Year and deservedly so. Music spouts out of him at a rate of knots it's hard to keep up with so it's pleasing to see some of it come out on this Lost Tribe Sound cassette. The disorientating chaos of Death From A Love is still there but this is more like early Beck and Sentridoh experiments in acoustic rattling yet with plenty of sonic scree placed on top.

MALK
Death From A Love

MALK was one of the people behind that Mahatma X album we loved so much earlier in the year. Whereas Mahatma X celebrated the golden age of cut and splice hip-hop MALK delves deeper into the sort of grey areas of cyberpunk and vaporwave that Oneohtrix Point Never also mines. Though there's melody in abundance, this is deep and dark, a terrifying sonic ride through Trump's America.
