Duckett
Emperor's New Clothes EP

Berceuse Heroique (Don’t DJ, Jay Glass Dubs) front a new EP, apparently the first in a series, from the seasoned Duckett. There’s a knowingly wry aspect to the producer entitling this record Emperor’s New Clothes - having been around the block a few times, Duckett isn’t counting on his chirpy leftfield techno style to reinvent the wheel. It’s this sense of low expectations that gives these six tunes freedom. As such, this is a welcoming listen that wears its quirks with pride. Think Bullion, John Talabot and suchlike.

Untold / Duckett
Mother's Finest Tape 02

Berlin club night and occasional label Mother’s Finest follow their Don’t DJ/Hodge tape with another split cassette. Serial club-botherer Untold comes through with a mix that features a whopping 25 unreleased tracks, most of which are the sort of leftfield techno that made the producer’s name. By contrast, Duckett’s side is a recording of a live PA set.
