Twilight Splendour

Housewives have made the classic move for their second album, moving from a guitar-dominated sound to a more electronic presentation. With this change has come an increased interest in What Technology Means These Days, which makes for some strong lyrical-sonic juxtapositions. Twilight Splendour is out on Blank Editions.

Housewives / Massicot
Exc. 281016 / Kokteilis

The no wave repeato-brutality of Housewives and the hip-hopped tropical pop-noise of Massicot both commit themselves to wax on this exciting split 7”, with a totally new track from each band. EXC. 281016 / KOKTEILIS is released by a powerful coalition of five labels: Harbinger Sound, Hands In The Dark, Red Wig, Blank Editions and Et Mon Cul C’est Du Tofu?, in a limited edition of 1000.

This intricate slab of zero-compromise alt/indie music knows not where to stop in the art of experimentation. Chopped into seven pieces, FF061116 is the twisted works of London-based project Housewives. Comparisons will be made, but this is a unique and oddly timeless piece of avant-garde audacity.

Housewives present their debut full-length album, Work. The band’s style is post-punky, with an experimental bent: they used some unusual recording techniques (e.g. drums in a silo) and some field recordings in the making of this album. The record is released by a consortium of some of the freshest labels on the scene: Negative Days, Hands In The Dark, and Blank Editions.
