John Frusciante

John Frusciante steps out of the confines of his Trickfinger alias to release his first electronic/dance record under his own name. Released through Aaron Funk (Venetian Snares)' Timesig label, 'Maya' sees the Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist delve into 1991-'96 UK breakbeat hardcore and jungle. Given that his music in Trickfinger has gradually morphed from Rephlex-sounding IDM, acid and ambient techno into something which hints at drill and bass, this one's set to be a lively affair.

She Smiles Because She Presses The Button

Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante releases his third studio album under his Trickfinger alias. Following the project’s two self-titled albums (2015 and 2017 respectively), She Smiles Because She Presses The Button is arguably Frusciante’s most coherent vision yet, somehow holding together a diverse mixture of electronic and guitar-based music.

Since leaving The Red Hot Chili Peppers, John Frusciante has been working way more on his electronics, releasing through labels like Acid Test. However he had been doing this stuff for a while. These are the second set of tracks to be released from his original ventures as Trickfinger. Just him and a load of sequencers and synths, jamming until he presses record, with no over dubs. Recorded in 2007. Sounds close to Aphex Twin on an acid tip.
