Super Furry Animals
Fuzzy Logic

Super Furry Animals released their lively wild-ride album Fuzzy Logic in 1996, throwing some Welsh weirdness into the Britpop mix. This twentieth anniversary reissue includes the remastered album plus a round-up of all the contemporary B-sides. Also (for the CD edition) a second disc, containing a sackful of previously unreleased material.

Gruff Rhys
(Don't) Welcome The Plague As A Blessing / The Babelsberg Basement Files

If you've ever listened to Gruff Rhys's Baselburg album and wondered what the demos sounded like then here's your chance to hear them on vinyl. It features the songs in their raw format before the studio sweetening began and even Gruff Rhys says they aren't altogether different from the final product. Still, a capturing of the process from an always fascinating musician.

Gruff Rhys
Pang!

The sixth solo album from Super Furry Animals frontman Gruff Rhys is typically internationalist in its outlook. Recorded and produced between Cardiff and Johannesburg, Pang! is a Welsh language album with some Zulu lyrics, put together with the help of South African electronica musician Muzi. Rhys has recorded a welter of sonically diverse solo works, so expect Pang! to be completely different once again.

Gruff Rhys
Babelsberg

Here's the latest from Super Furry Animals' Gruff Rhys which is his first for Rough Trade in quite some time. He's recorded it with composer Stephen McNeff and the (wait for it) 72 piece BBC National Orchestra of Wales. That's an amazing amount of people/instruments. Early indications suggest it is his best album to date which is quite some going as the lad is a very consistent performer as it is.

Set Fire To The Stars

Good isn't he? This soundtrack to a film about Dylan Thomas's first week in the USA has a warm hopeful feel with the Super Furry Animals lad effortlessly blending cocktail jazz, Americana and Atomic Age bop using vintage instruments and live takes. Recorded at the same time but in very different circumstances to his last LP 'American Interior', this sounds like it will be an essential addition to his back catalogue.

Gruff Rhys
American Interior

The concept here is oddball  - it concerns the true story of a Welshman who travelled to America to discover a tribe of Welsh ex pats. Yet in Gruff Rhys's hands it never comes across as pretentious or wilfully difficult. Instead we get another album of his gorgeous psychedelic pop and that big thick voice of his known more famously as the mouth noise of Super Furry Animals.

Candylion

Alas Smith and Gruff Rhys Jones. The former duetted with Kim Wilde, the latter was (and is) a member of Welsh psychedelic pop men Super Furry Animals. Yet he also makes his own music too and between Super Furries shenanigans he did Candylion, a mellow acoustic album inspired by the music he grew up on. A lovely sound tends to always come out of the man's mouth and fingers and this is no different.
