Marie Davidson
Nina Kraviz x Afrodeutsche Remixes

Marie Davidson’s latest LP ‘Working Class Woman’ was a brilliant satire of modern club and work culture. On this remix 12”, Nina Kraviz offers two takes of on the track ‘Workaholic Paranoid Bitch - the first with all the might of a sledgehammer - and Afrodeutsche serves two absolutely killer mixes of the track ‘Day Dreaming’.

Marie Davidson
So Right EP

Marie Davidson drops an EP centred around her song ‘So Right’, a track that was one of the standout moments of her excellent Ninja Tune full-length Working Class Woman. The So Right EP splits neatly down the middle - the first half presents an extended version of the title track and a John Talabot remix, the second gives us a Davidson original entitled ‘La Ecstase’ as well as a Silent Servant re-rub.

Marie Davidson
Working Class Woman

If you've yet to experience Marie Davidson's music as a solo artist then it's possible you may have encountered her on the Constellation label as a member of Essaie Pas, Land Of Kush or Les Momies de Palerme (amongst others). 'Working Class Woman', her fourth solo full-length, arrives on Ninja Tune and is the Montreal-based artist's most introspective and visceral work to date. Her sound absorbs influences from Italo Disco, proto-industrial, minimal synth and electro which she moulds into her own distinctive vision.

Marie Davidson

Montreal synth-popster Marie Davidson has had a fine couple of years off the back of her excellent 2016 LP Adieux Au Dancefloor. Seems like a good time, then, for Texan label Holodeck Records to set her eponymous 2012 EP to wax for the first time. While Adieux… had a distinctly noir-ish appeal, the darkness is really drawn out in Davidson’s early work. Her coldwave and synthwave influences come to the fore here, with tracks like ‘Esthetique Privee’ bringing Farah to mind.

Essaie Pas
New Path

Montreal electronic duo Essaie Pas are back with their fifth album (their second on DFA Records) ‘New Path’, a riff on Philip K. Dick’s dystopian sci-fi novel A Scanner Darkly. Their particular brand of coldwave songwriting lends itself beautifully to the doomy subject matter at hand, the disembodied chants and aggressive percussion amping up the beautifully bleak atmosphere.

Essaie Pas
Demain est une autre nuit

Essaie Pas are an electro-disco-pop duo hailing from Montreal. Debut full-length Demain est une autre nuit is laden with atmosphere whilst also carrying great momentum: enough, in fact, that they supported Factory Floor on a US tour. French-language vocals keep their distance, while the rhythmic pulse keeps you warm.
