Visible Cloaks with Yoshio Ojima and Satsuki Shibano
FRKWYS Vol. 15: serenitatem

Oregon electronic/ambient duo Visible Cloaks in a Transpacific partnership. Joined by Japanese modern ambient composers Yoshio Ojima, from Kankyo Ongaku fame, and Satsuki Shibano, this quartet has created a beautiful album packed with mallets, rich synthesizers, and lush pads. Beautiful intercontinental collaboration to stretch your ears.

Visible Cloaks

Musique Plastique’s souped-up reissue of Visible Cloaks’s self-titled 2014 cassette is out for another release run. The duo’s synthesis of synthetic FM tones, manipulated voices and mallet percussion recalls the releases of the short-lived but influential label Hippos In Tanks (Hype Williams, James Ferraro) as well as having something of the Kid As about it. This re-pressing sees the original tape remastered and bundled together with ‘additional surprises’. Goodee.

Visible Cloaks
Lex

Fabulous abstract ambient pop music for digital robots here on Visible Cloaks’ new record. Lex was composed through various process of software randomisation, creative uses of MIDI, and texts fed and re-fed through so many language translation processes that a new un-language has been formed. Eerie but soothing audio oddities grounded in the hyperreal digital now.

Visible Cloaks
Reassemblage

Visible Cloaks present a suite of digital shimmer-music, pulling globally-sourced sounds apart into tiny strands and then weaving them together into new ambient forms, using chance operations and MIDI magic along the way. The duo’s second full-length album Reassemblage is released by the RVNG Intl. label.
