Home Made Satan

The Devil just like your mother used to make on the second LP from Brandon Williams’ Chastity project. Home Made Satan is a set of emotional, widescreen rock and emo from the Ontario native. Williams mourns The Current State Of Affairs over agonised instrumentals that recall the likes of American Football and early Death Cab To Cutie.

MOURN and Chastity

7" featuring collaborative track between MOURN and Chastity as well as a live take from each. MOURN are a Spanish punk band whose main influence is Throwing Muses. Canadian Chastity plays a lil' harder, reaching the distortion ridden, riff heavy end of punk. Together they go at it with full hearts. On Captured Tracks.

Death Lust

A re-issue of demos on Brooklyn label Captured Tracks has fuelled a burgeoning interest in Canadian punks Chastity. Support slots with Priests, Fucked Up, Metz and Chelsea Wolfe have only made people more excited about their debut LP Death Lust. The album revolves around the concept that the pain of living knowing we’re going to die is tempered by the ability to cope with that knowledge. LP and CD on Captured Tracks.

Popping up again after February’s Peroxide 7”, here’s a quick, propulsive EP of angst-ridden post-punk from Whitby, Ontario resident Brandon Williams, or Chastity. Brickwalled and intense, to these ears Chains comes out sounding quite a lot like the peculiar and anachronistic notion of Nirvana covering Deftones.

Chastity is the project of Brandon Williams, broadcasting from a Canadian suburb that is apparently positioned so that Toronto is tantalisingly out of reach. The frustration of youth is a key theme on Peroxide, a song as heavy with emotional drama as it is with reverb, piano and big-chorus drums. 7” on Captured Tracks.
