Ok to clear up the confusion that I had about this band this is nothing to do with E from Eels who recorded his early work under the E moniker. Incredibly the letter has been chosen for moniker of this exploratory trio from Boston who include Thalia Zedek on melodic guitar. This is their third album which deals with whatever the hell is going on in these times.
Boston trio E - featuring former members of Karate, Uzi, Neptune and more - drop their second LP via Thrill Jockey. The ten tracks of Negative Work are a tense, bracing mix of hardcore punk, shredded blues and noise rock. As well as the usual suspects - Fugazi, Mclusky - there’s a fair bit of Metz in here too.
E might reasonably be described as an alt-rock supergroup, being comprised of Thalia Zedek, Gavin McCarthy and Jason Sanford, who have experience in Come, Karate and Neptune respectively. Collaborative debut E manages to reach new grounds of sharp rock that were not quite glimpsed in any of their separate work: mission accomplished! Out on Thrill Jockey.
