Flashback

Those lovable scamps Fujiya & Miyagi return to the fray with their seventh LP. The Brighton band proudly proclaim Flashback to be their funkiest record yet, and they’re not half wrong. This album is full of fun tracks that mix NYC disco, Chicago house, electro-pop and Krautrock. Think Hot Chip, Confidence Man and The Rapture. Flashback is out via the group’s own Impossible Objects Of Desire imprint.

Fujiya & Miyagi
EP1

Fujiya & Miyagi stroll cooly into their sixteenth year of existence as a musical duo with a slick new EP. On ‘Serotonin Rushes’, the vocal scarcely rises above the level of a whisper, even as the underslung synth-pop grows to the level of ecstatic. Sleek club players these guys. 12” on Impossible Objects Of Desire.

Transparent Things

First-time vinyl release of the Brighton band’s third LP, from 2006. There are some obvious Neu! moves here and there, but unlike many Can copyists, these guys were, uh... canny enough to retain the slinky funk aspect Damo and co. delivered. Clever proto-Sleafords lyrics and the occasional whiff of Italo-disco add to the appeal.

Artificial Sweeteners

Artificial Sweeteners is the fifth album by Brighton-based four-piece Fujiya & Miyagi. The album sees them going back to their electronic roots that made their first two albums by using their old synthesizers and samplers in conjunction with the modern equipment they have become accustomed to. Artificial Sweeteners is available on vinyl LP, the first 1500 of which will be on splatter vinyl, and CD.
