Isaac Hayes
Hot Buttered Soul

On only his second album, Issac Hayes had managed to acquire complete artistic control, resulting in one of the most groundbreaking soul albums of any era. Containing only four long tracks, the album is dominated by Hayes’ legendary elongations of Walk On By and By the Time I Get to Phoenix. New remaster, housed in a tip-on jacket.

Isaac Hayes

Here’s a soundtrack whose enduring impact and influence outweighs that of its parent film. Besides the ubiquity of the title track, this mostly instrumental double is the best-selling Stax LP, and was harvested for samples by 2Pac, Lil’ Kim and Dr. Dre. With Hayes being mostly relegated to songwriting, the focus is more on The Bar-Kays, who get to stretch out to the max on Do Your Thing. Remastered double LP in tip-on sleeve.

Black Moses

On his massive 1971 double, Hayes puts his own stamp on hits by the Jackson 5,  Dionne Warwick and the Carpenters. Its enduring influence led to Ike's Rap II being sampled by both Tricky and Portishead. And as if the messianic and expansive vibes weren’t coming through strongly enough, the uncompromising title was represented by a cruciform fold-out sleeve, replicated in all its glory here.
