Kleenex/Lilliput were formed in 1978 in Switzerland as Kleenex. Legal action from the tissue brand forced them to change their name to Lilliput in 1980. The band were an important part of the feminist art punk movement along with British bands such as The Slits and The Raincoats. Forceful bass, ricocheting drums and angular guitar provided a backdrop for manic, urgent vocals. Guitarist Marlene Marder and bassist Klaudia Schifferle remained the only constants in an ever changing lineup. First Songs documents the band’s earliest recordings.
