Francisco Lopez
Sonic Fields Vlieland

Francisco Lopez continues his quest towards his 'ideal of absolute concrète music' with over 360 sound-works already under his belt. Lopez is ridiculously prolific and deep within his minimal electroacoustic sound-worlds, and so here we present to you his latest work. 'Sonic Fields Vlieland' is 3 hours in total duration and arrives in high-quality, uncompressed audio on a USB memory card. Limited to 300 copies, signed by Francisco's own hand.

Francisco Lopez
La Selva: Sound Environments From A Neotropical Rain Forest

Francisco Lopez is a real pro at recording and sequencing field recordings, and rainforests are a particular favourite of his. La Selva: Sound Environments From A Neotropical Rain Forest is a continuous 70-minute piece of amazing scale and detail. Presented on a USB memory stick accompanied, for some unfathomable reason, by a blank LP. On Sub Rosa.

Francisco Lopez
Yanayacu

Recorded in the Peruvian Amazon in 2006 by Francisco Lopez, this CD recreates the sounds of the Jungle in exquisite, unprocessed detail. Perfect for hippies and those that want to be surrounded by the lush thick green vegetation but without the insect bites and the fear of being attacked by spear wielding natives.

Francisco Lopez
Belu

Francisco Lopez is an acknowledged master of the long-form, high-grade environmental field recording: the number of places he’s been… Belu is a documentation of sounds he found in Myanmar: lots of rich, humid forest and wildlife noises. Part of Lopez’ self-released Epoch Collection, Belu is limited to 300 CDr copies.

Francisco Lopez
untitled#352

Francisco Lopez had no intention of either compressing the quality or reducing the duration of the work he extracted from the RCU boiler plant near Paris, so untitled #352 is presented in the form of a USB memory card, loaded with five hours and twenty minutes of audio activity. The work exists in a self-released edition of 250, each signed by Lopez.

Francisco Lopez
Anima Ardens

Francisco Lopez, usually spotted these days releasing long-form field recording epics, has been enlisted to provide the soundtrack to a dance piece for naked men by the Compagnie Thor ensemble. Lopez has turned to ritualistic recordings and jungle ambiences, mixed up into a very vivid whole. Anima Ardens is released by Sub Rosa.

Francisco Lopez
Tāwhirimātea

Tāwhirimātea is a collection of dense field recordings from prolific sound artist, and general musical experimenter, Francisco Lopez. Recorded in New Zealand’s forests and natural parks and then edited and recomposed across the U.S., these recordings become abstract bursts of organic drone and noise music.

Francisco Lopez
1980-82

Francisco Lopez creates experimental sounds from field recordings made to cassette. He talks about how his limitations in not having the standard equipment to create field recordings, led to him having to be more creative in his creation of the sounds. It shows in the recordings which meld sounds together into something quasi tangible. 1980-82 is a collection of sounds made from recordings made in Madrid.

Francisco Lopez
UNTITLED#300

Another pristinely beautiful untitled release from Francisco López, extracting and arranging the sounds of the world with incredible attention to detail. Here we have a colony of seagulls (side A) and underwater creatures clicking and buzzing (side B), both from the Moroccan-Algerian border. Cut to ‘crystal clear’ vinyl that weighs 200g (yes, 200!).

Francisco Lopez
Untitled #274

Another catchily untitled release from Francisco Lopez. This time, on Untitled #274, Lopez stays away from the high-def field recordings he has recently focused on, and gets active in the legendary GRM electroacoustic studios in Paris, for a single track exploration of digital clicks and fizz. Actually rather compelling.

Francisco Lopez
La Selva

Deep in the jungles of Costa Rica, we see a man. He is Francisco Lopez, and he is burdened by studio recording equipment, on the prowl for the sound of crickets and bees, mammals or trees, the wind, rain and even the sun drying leaves. The culmination of his hard work and recording has become known to us mortals simply as La Selva, but it is an immortalization of the infinitude of jungle life.

Francisco López + Lawrence English
HB

Kind of like a mixtape exchange but between two drone braniacs, HB sees musique concrete getting swapped like an episode of some reality TV show where two things or people trade places and Nothing Is The Same. Lawrence English and Francisco López both captured field recordings for one another and then exchange them for a new excavation. The result are compositions made to recontextualise natural sound in a new subjective setting.
