Loren Connors & Daniel Carter
The Departing of a Dream, Vol. VII

The rather grandly titled The Departing of a Dream, Vol.VII brings together two titans of the New York avant-garde scene - veteran guitarist Loren Connors and saxophonist/trumpeter Daniel Carter. This series is Connors’ baby, based around blues and jazz interpretations of Miles Davis, and this latest instalment brings Carter into the fold, representing the first time these auteurs have ever joined forces.

New York United

Wow what a team up! We’ve got New York legend Daniel Carter along with electronic Blue Foundation dude Tobias Wilner, while in the rhythm department we have free-jazz drummer Federico Ughi and the Wu-Tang Clan’s go-to bass man, Djibril Toure. Obviously, magic ensues. New York United, with track titles named after New York streets, is the group’s first recorded release. On 577 Records.

Talibam! & Daniel Carter
New Nixon Tapes

New York’s Talibam! and New York’s Daniel Carter combine their powers on this Roaratorio LP, explicitly endorsed by former US President Richard Nixon!! (well, possibly) Free music that swallows up most other genres and spits them out in a colourful synth-drum-sax melange. Pretty good fun all told.

Dissipated Face with Daniel Carter
Live At CBGB 1986

This is '80s nihilistic rock at its finest - sloppy, noisy, fast, dirty and with a saxophone thrown in for good measure. Recorded Live at CBGB in 1986, this record is an improbable hybrid between nothing-to-live-for punk and avant-garde free jazz which sounds just as crazy as it sounds it will sound like.
