The incredibly good noise rock band Women broke up in a state, leading their rhythm section to offshoot into Preoccupations, taking with them some of the shambolic, dovetailing guitar ideas they were treated to in their old band. Since then the band have been growing more and more distraught with the world, sinking into an irreversible nihilism that they felt cried out for a moodier, more synth-oriented post-punk. We're not as sold on it as we were their startling early work, but they remain a good gloom-fest, if and when you need it.
