Fabio Orsi
Each Day Moon Tide

An electronic musician based in Taranto in southern Italy, Fabio Orsi continues in an impressive run of compelling works in droning, atmospheric soundscapes with another EP, titled Each Day Moon Tide. This is presented on a 12” vinyl via Oltrarno Recordings, and pressed in a run of 300 copies.

Fabio Orsi
Sterminato Piano

The tireless Fabio Orsi’s new one came about after returning to Puglia, Italy after eight years of Berlin-ing. That’s bound to affect your creations a bit. While much of his previous work has concentrated on arrangements of drones, pads and field recordings, Sterminato Piano is a pair of slow-burning arpeggi-synth electronica tunes with unexpectedly heavy rhythms. Still characteristically dreamy, but certainly a touch more alert.

The Royal Garden Covered in Ash

Brian Pyle (you might know his work as part of Ensemble Economique) teams up with Fabio Orsi for two lovely slabs of deep ambient stretch that are precisely as evocative as the title The Royal Garden Covered In Ash would suggest. Dream music through and through, gorgeous but eerie. Released by Entr’acte.

Fabio Orsi
Motel A Tre Stelle

Slight change of pace from Fabio Orsi here. We’re used to the Italian composer giving us records of atmospheric drone. He hasn’t completely abandoned that on Motel A Tre Stelle, but this new LP also sees him going down some hitherto-unexplored kosmische/new age rabbit holes. Tracks like ‘Profundo Blu’ have got a nice Tangerine Dream flavour to them.

Just For A Thrill

Some slow cleaners from Fabio Orsi. Just For A Thrill is the new full length offering from the Italian producer. On this one he melds expansive electronics and synths with field recordings to blur the lines between organic and artificial to the point where you're not sure which is which. Definitely one for the Eno heads. Out on CD from Home Normal.

Fabio Orsi | Alessandra Guttagliere
Giardino Forico n° 1 - Napoli

Extremely enticing visual and sound art project from Italian electroacoustician Fabio Orsi and Italian photographer and poet Alessandra Guttagliere. Giardino Forico no 1 - Napoli would appear to be an attempt to represent a place (the city of Naples) through a layered blend of field recordings and sound, and fifty-six pages worth of photographs and words. Available in both single and double CD editions from 13 / silentes.

Fabio Orsi
Endless Autumn

Fabio Orsi’s new album Endless Autumn can be seen as a sort-of sequel to Fennesz’s Endless Summer: despite being by a different artist altogether, the record melds acoustic and electronic sound sources / processes together to map a very personal representation of place. Released by the Backwards label.
