Spacetime Continuum / Scanner / Ross 154 / Leo Anibaldi

DE:10.07 is the 7th EP in the 10 Years De:Tuned series. Here we have four tracks of ambient techno from a highly respected quartet of producers: Spacetime Continuum, Scanner, Ross 154 and Leo Anibaldi. This uplifting EP perfectly blends the old and the new and is likely to cure what ails ya, so give it a go.

Ross 154

From the mists of 1993 and Eevo-Lute, it's Ross 154 (Jochem Peteri / Newworldaquarium) with Fragments. 4 slices of deep, opaque, mysterious techno and soft ambient interludes. Recorded at Stefan Robbers' parents' house in Eindhoven, the guys channeled their formative influences: hip hop, Brit Soul and Duran Duran melancholy; while absorbing UK scene techno -- Kirk Degiorgio, B12 -- plus second-wave Detroit (Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin). A classic, then.

154 aka Ross 154 is an alias of Dutch producer Jochem Peteri perhaps best known for his productions as Newworldaquarium. He’s managed to take time out to reissue his 2004 album Strike in response to great demand. Strike is a great work of dubby/ ambient techno that still resonates thirteen years down the line, Double 12” reissue on NWAQ. Much sought after and recommended to fans of Basic Channel.

Wherever You Go, I Will Follow

Got to love a bit of 154 whose 'Strike' I will recommend to anyone who likes a bit of billowy techno. Here is a further two tracker of Jochem Peteri’s project which is actually one long piece stretched over two sides of wax. He's an expert at this form of smoked out beatery and really should be up there with GAS as a master of the genre.

Until My Heart Stops...

Repressed from 2004, but could originally be from as early as 1993. These recordings were recovered from cassettes found in Ross 154’s bathroom. A direct link back to techno history, the title track is based around a sublime pitch-warbling bell-like loop, warm sweeping pads, and spacious percussion.

Chubby Knuckles EP

Previously uncirculated sounds from Newworldaquarium. The Chubby Knuckles EP is a spaced-out set of super-disco sounds that summon up a sense of ecstatic experience: ‘42’ in particular feels the blissful no-space after the dance climax has been reached. 12” release on the NWAQ label.
