Exhaust
Exhaust

According to the folk at Constellation, Exhaust were one of the groups that made them want to start a label in the first place. It’s a good thing that they did, because otherwise we may never have been able to get hold of the band’s 1998 eponymous debut LP. Exhaust is smoke-hazed, incantatory dub-punk that takes in Guerilla Welfare, mid-period Talking Heads and This Heat.

Enregistreur De Vol Ne Pas Ouvrir

Exhaust don’t get to play together much on account of their members also being in groups like Set Fire To Flames and Godspeed You! Black Emperor. However, in the Summer of 2001 the Montreal trio set some time aside, retreated to a woodland cabin and worked on what became their sophomore LP Enregistreur (De Vol Ne Pas Ouvrir). A bass, drums and tapes setup yielded Enregistreur's lumbering conflagrations of drone, noise rock, post-rock and musique concrete.
