Alela Diane
The Pirate's Gospel (Deluxe Edition)

The Pirate's Gospel was the debut album by the now renowned singer/songwriter Alela Diane. It was originally released in 2006. It seemed inevitable that she would end up as a recording artist, both of her parents were musicians and she grew up in a house filled with music. Her songs generally focus on family and nature, and here she is found already re-evaluating her life as things she had previously relied on were no longer available to her.  180g vinyl or CD, remastered with 10 bonus tracks on Allpoints.

Alela Diane
Cusp

Cusp is The 5th solo album by singer/songwriter Alela Diane and follows on from her 2013 album, About Farewell, written and recorded after her marriage to musical partner Tom Bevitori ended. Accidentally inspired by breaking a thumbnail and writing on the piano instead of finger picking her way on the guitar, Diane did a ‘Justin Vernon’ and shut herself away in a snow-covered cabin to write the album. Thematically it  concentrates on Motherhood, falling in love with your child, rather than  the lost love of its predecessor.

Alela Diane & Wild Divine

Been wondering what former R.E.M producer Scott Litt has been up to? Me neither. But if you have wondered what the producer of several squillion selling records does with his time these days then you could check out this the third record by West Coast songwriter Alela Diane. Interestingly both her father and her husband are in the group and her voice is described as a full throated hillbilly thing. Rough Trade picked it up and hopefully they will make her a star.

Alela Diane & Ryan Francesconi
Cold Moon

The collaboration between alt. folk singer/songwriter Alela Diane and guitarist Ryan Francesconi (projects include Joanna Newsom’s Have One On Me) comes from both artists suffering from a lack of creativity. The pair met at a mutual friend's gig and from that chat decided to work together. Francesconi sent some guitar pieces to Diane for her to write lyrics to. She struggled at first finding inspiration but soon the creative juices started to flow. The resulting album Cold Moon is a collection of reflective and optimistic songs.
