John Morris Vinyl, CD & tapes by John Morris at Norman Records
The Mondo label return with another unusual release; the underappreciated soundtrack to Jonathan Lynn’s cult black comedy Clue. John Morris’ score is all tense strings and wacky synth trills and is a major source of the film’s reputation. The packaging for this 30th anniversary release is of course great, with new art and an 180 gram vinyl LP.
Mel Brooks is known for his hilarious parody movies and Western parody, Blazing Saddles is arguably his greatest work. The attention to detail Brooks paid to the film was mirrored in its soundtrack. Along with John Morris, Brooks created a perfect parody of Western movie scores that took a pop at every cliche going. The main theme, sung by none other than Frankie Laine was nominated for an Oscar.
