Lafawndah
ANCESTOR BOY

It's the debut release from Lafawndah on her own label, Concordia. Ancestor Boy is a concept album of sorts that sees Lafawndah delve the depths of a fabricated history where she discovers and muses over an imaginary people who relate to her own coming-of-age tales, woven beautifully through this excellent debut.

Lafawndah
Tan

A vinyl 12” from the iconic Warp records and an EP that must be one of the most unusual records from their eclectic catalogue. Lafawndah produces an aggressively globalised electronic music that taps into everything from zouk and kizoma, to dubstep and grime. Tan was co-produced by L-Vis 1990, and his style helps Lafawndah’s unique voice unite the various regional sub-genres they borrow from.

Midori Takada & Lafawndah
Le Renard Bleu

The first new release from Midori Takada in almost two decades! Le Renard Bleu (translation: ‘The Blue Fox’) is a single-track, twenty-minute EP that sees the Japanese composer step out alongside NYC’s Lafawndah. Takada plays tuned percussion and also employs waterphones, Japanese strings and various drums in her composition. Meanwhile Lafawndah offers vocals that appear to draw strength from both Western and Eastern opera. It’s potent stuff.
