Dean Blunt & Joanne Robertson

Originally only released on social media this is the first time on vinyl for this 2014 collaboration between Dean Blunt (Hype Williams, Babyfather etc) and visual/folk artist Joanne Robertson. Robertson is a frequent Blunt collaborator featuring memorably on his The Redeemer LP. Vinyl only. No download.

Dean Blunt
Stone Island

Relentless prankster Dean Blunt reappears with an album he allegedly recorded in a Moscow hotel room. The ten tracker has been released without much fanfare but expect it to sell out in an instant. These pieces are said to be more in tune with earlier works such as The Redeemer with downbeat, fractures songs topped off by Blunts unmistakeable mumble.

Dean Blunt
As Long As Ropes Unravel Fake Rolex Will Travel

2 brand new Dean Blunt tunes right here, back to back on a limited 180g 12" vinyl on World Music. Or should we call him, Dean So Many Blunts He Presses 420 Copies Of His New Record. It's his first new solo material proper since Black Metal, and just listen to that A side track - it's Blunt at his most peaceful, with cyclic vocal samples intertwining with breezy guitar and warm chords.

Hype Williams
Rainbow Edition

After several years off pursuing their own projects, Dean Blunt and Inga Copeland are back with a new album as Hype Williams. Except they aren't, as the press release reckons neither of them are involved. Or are they? The woozy, disjointed music they previously concocted has spawned lots of imitators but now we get the real thing. Or do we?

New project Babyfather is yet another alias of the infamous Dean Blunt, this time co-producing with Arca. You can tell it is Blunt because (apart from his familiar drawl) there are plenty of odd samples (cars screeching, a distressed woman etc.). A strong tune, pressed to 10” vinyl on Hyperdub with an instrumental on the flip.

"BBF" Hosted By DJ Escrow

Babyfather -who I think you’ll find is a pseudonym for Dean Blunt, often working alongside Arca (though we've been told by Hyperdub this isn't who it is despite the earlier EP being credited to both - legal ed) is clearly in a archly sarcastic state-of-the-nation mood: just look at that sleeve art! “BBF” Hosted By DJ Escrow is the first full-length attributed to the project, and slides slickly around that murky Blunt territory. Includes ‘Meditation’. On Hyperdub.
