PS + ISF
s/t

L.I.E.S. have a real treat here for fans of the harsher end of European techno. The producers of this EP have tried to hide themselves away under cover of their initials, but we’ve sleuthed that the PS and ISF in question are Dutch fiends Parrish Smith and Interstellar Funk. On these four tracks they unite for a set of no-messing EBM. The slower tempo of closer ‘Collapsed Buildings’ gives it an anarcho-dub feel reminiscent of recent drops from The Bug’s Pressure Records. Good stuff.

Dekmantel 10 Years 04

Dekmantel’s ten year birthday celebrations continue with the fourth release in their EP series. Dekmantel 10 Years 04 features exclusive new tracks from Interstellar Funk, Palms Trax, Syracuse & Epsilove and The Egyptian Lover, each of whom moves in different ways to show why this rather special label values them as part of their roster. 12”.

Private Eyes
Mirror Image / Anasazi

Slices taken from a few pies here. With and 80s synth backbone that would suit a straight to VHS film, arpeggiated basslines and cold chords swelling in and out Mirror Image is one for night-time drives. Anasazi plays more on the minimal side, arpeggiated micro phrases playing off one another, drumless, pushing through the analog dust.

Interstellar Funk
Caves Of Steel

Interstellar Funk presents Caves Of Steel, a hectic whirl of funked-up Detroit-style techno. In addition to the straight-up Interstellar Funk jams, this release includes a track with a guest spot by Jeroen and a wild n’ punchy remix of the title track by Convextion. Caves Of Steel is out on Berceuse Heroique.

Faster Action
Faster Action

Usually a pairing with Robert Bergmann, Interstellar Funk goes it alone under the Faster Action title for these cheeky tools many DJs would be thankful for. Two tracks offering strong beds of rhythm, the first a 909 explosion and the second a heavier metallic affair. Great backbone stuff for any club set.

Interstellar Funk
Electric Park Square

Netherlands producer Interstellar Funk has picked his name carefully: his tracks utilise those lovely squelchy acid synths we all love and aims them towards the thrilling realms of space travel. Or so it feels on Electric Park Square. This new 12” on Rush Hour follows on from previous work for Dekmantel and Tape Records Amsterdam.
