Eric Chenaux
Slowly Paradise

Sounding like he's playing jazz and folk influenced guitar pieces whilst sitting in the hull of a tugboat on a particularly windy day, Eric Chenaux has a totally unique seasick sound that is ripe with invention. He blurs the lines between avant garde modern composition and the type of lop-sided fretwork also explored by the likes of John Fahey and Richard Dawson.

Eric Chenaux
Skullsplitter

Sometimes you gotta keep the unknowing masses at a distance. That’s what Eric Chenaux must have thought, because Skullsplitter is not filled with extremely hardcore techno. In fact, it’s overflowing with gentle and beautiful soundscapes, straight from his skull to the vinyl. Maybe that’s where the name comes from.

Eric Chenaux
Guitar & Voice

Chenaux what we think? What we think is that Eric Chenaux is bloody brilliant. There is pretty much no-one operating in music today who can coax the range of tones, textures and timbres from a six-string. Guitar And Voice, his fourth LP for Constellation, is another masterpiece from the Canadian. The stretched-out ballads here are so unique that they could pass for Boards Of Canada, something off of Radiohead’s Amnesiac or Chet Baker without ever really sounding much like those things at all. Chenaux's soft, kind voice and quixotic lyrics are the icing on the cake. Guitar And Voice is a singular achievement from an artist who specialises in singular achievements.
