Cienfuegos Vinyl, CD & tapes from this artist at Norman Records
The debut full-length from Alex Suarez’s Cienfuegos project is named after a particular kind of military coup, so you can imagine that Autogolpe isn’t going to pull very many punches. Indeed, this is a heavy and dark listen, whether it is pummelling the listener with industrial beats or creating more abstract sections of oppression. LP on L.I.E.S.
Cienfuegos seems to make his tracks with the bare minimum of equipment: a couple of stark synths and drum machines and a few touches of his voice. It's all you need to make hulking industrial music, and Cienfuegos manages that with aplomb, getting the delicate balance between bludgeon and swing just right. Lost In God’s Country is out on BANK Records.
Cienfuegos (aka Alexander L. Suaréz) returns to the Unknown Precept label with a full platter of woozy, broken-sounding techno. Over five tracks he hammers the rhythms whilst also doing strange things with the rest of the sound-field: heavily processed samples, fat bass pulses, all sorts. Packaged in an attractively minimal disco sleeve.
