Willie J Healey
Twin Heavy

Willie J Healy hails from Oxfordshire and he sings and writes songs. He was very nearly a boxer, but a few Neil Young records soon put him on the path he’s confidently strutting down now. Twin Heavy is his latest album and going by the first single to be lifted from it, Why You Gotta Do It, it seems he’s going down a Phil Spector path, thankfully only in terms of the sound of his records.

Hello Good Morning

“The prettiest people would do the ugliest things,” writes Willie J Healey himself by way of explaining his new single ‘Songs For Joanna’. It’s a terrific summation of that feeling of not quite being able to connect with mainstream society, and it’s a theme that occupies the rest of Healey’s latest four-track EP, Hello Good Morning.

666 Kill

Willie J Healey took a novel approach to writing the songs for his first record of new material since 2017 debut LP People And Their Dogs. As soon as an idea would appear in his head Healey sought to flesh it out without over-elaborating the writing process. The results are these six tracks of plaintive freak-folk that recall Neil Young, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy and Devendra Banhart. The title of ‘Guitar Music’ is a red herring - it’s actually Healey’s first song to feature no guitars other than bass.

People and Their Dogs

Described as 'quirky but cool' in the press release and that isn't too far from the truth. Saying that, I didn't understand that apparently 'cool' and 'quirky' were oxymoronic. A great release from the Oxford based singer-songwriter Wille J Healey under the title People and Their Dogs. This record is available on Vinyl LP and CD and is released on Columbia.
