DJ Taye
Still Trippin’

The debut LP from DJ Taye lives up to his billing as one of the leading lights of footwork’s post-Rashad world. Taking cues from his late mentor, Taye’s chops as an MC come in handy across a record that draws as heavily from the world of rap as it does from Chicago’s 160-bpm dance scene. Second track ‘Trippin’’, for example, sees Taye flexing his lyrical muscles with as much speed and dexterity as the drums in his instrumental. Chuck Inglish, DJ Paypal, UNIIQU3 and more guest.

Move Out EP

Hyperdub furthers its footwork fascination with another care package from Chi-town’s Teklife mainstay DJ Taye. Opening the Move Out EP is the DJ Manny-featuring “Burnin Ya Boa”, which showcases the sort of rhythmically-chopped vocals we’ve come to expect. Outside of that, the track’s a curiously maudlin affair making it very much worth getting lost in.

DJ Taye
Break It Down

Young footworker DJ Taye makes his Hyperdub debut with Break It Down, on which he works with DJ Paypal, DJ Earl and DJ Manny. Typical footwork action here, doing mad things with samples and dropping in / pulling out drums without warning. Four ecstatic dance challenges for the ambitious. 12” vinyl EP.
